The Fiesta of Rei en Jaume is held in Santa Ponsa once a year, and usually starts on September 1st. This annual festival is said to be the best commemoration in the whole of Mallorca. It is being celebrated for two weeks to pay homage to the landing and colonization of King Jaime 1 in the year 1229. As the two-week event nears its end, several activities are held, including the grand procession that goes thru Santa Ponsa’s avenues. It is followed by a mock battle between the Moors and Christians during the day and a rock concert at night, a party that lasts until the wee hours of the morning. The whole event is concluded with a spectacular fireworks display on the midnight of Sunday.
