The area of Playa de Palma starts from Can Pastilla and continuously stretches up to El Arenal. Its uninterrupted beachfront measures around 5 kilometres long and 40 meters wide. There is a promenade in this area that is now dedicated just for bicycling and walking, and for mini trains that transport people from one resort to another. The hushed resort of Can Pastilla is situated at one end of the beach, and at the opposite part is the more animated El Arenal resort. Playa de Palma has been awarded the European Union Blue Flag. The Blue Flag is an eco-label awarded to over 3000 beaches and marinas in 35 countries across Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and the Caribbean .
Playa de Palma is lined with plenty of beach huts that serve food, drinks, showers and toilets. The newly transformed esplanade serves as main location for various local and international restaurants and several shops.
