Find the best shopping deals in Mallorca

Mallorca’s shopping habits are pretty much universal in character. Mallorca is famed for its shopping environment especially around Palma, the island’s capital. Top designer shops and even small boutiques can be found in the area, and even places where you can haggle hard and have great bargains with the traders (and that’s the fun part for most tourists). Clothes shops, electrical goods, jewelry shops and of course plenty of the usual tourist merchandise shops can be found. Avinguda Jaume III is an avenue that’s not to be forgotten if you want to trek the shopping strip. Include trailing the side streets of Bonire, Sta. Maria del Sepulcro, and Sant Marty for memorable window shopping.

There is a flea market every Saturday morning in Palma at the start of the "Avenidas" (streets) and in Campos, also on Sunday mornings in Binissalem, Consell, Inca and Alcudia.

The market in the smaller villages include the display of local produce -- hand-made Mallorcan arts, pottery, leather goods, etcetera, plus fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products. The farming community also offers to sell all kinds of live animals, cows, horses, sheep, hens, ducks, even kittens! It's also particularly interesting to observe the locals bartering.
The market in Sineu opens at 8:00 but it would be much better to get there early as it soon becomes very busy. After you have finished your shopping and sightseeing trip, you can always opt for good eats at the cellar restaurants or taverns around the market square.

The larger shops in Mallorca usually open from 09:00 to 21:00, particularly in the tourist centers. Siesta is observed in some shops in Mallorca, thus they are closed between 2:00 to 5:00pm. Several beachfront shops stay open until late at night and during the high season &most shops in Mallorca open seven days a week to cater to tourists.

The Balearic islands are great for high-tech goods, such as Cameras and little gadgets, as the tax is so much cheaper ,the deal is always better! You will find these shops all over the island mostly in Tourist resorts.

Remember, it is never a crime to bargain in order to have the finest buys in the island. Enjoy shopping in Mallorca!
